Best app for keeping track of portfolio? I've been trying to find a good Android app that would automatically synch with my exchanges and provide me with information (in real time) such as current balance, percent chance of portfolio, total gain/loss, as well as last change, equity, percent change, total gain/loss, total percent change (since entering portfolio) and average purchase cost of each coin individually (in USD, ETH, and BTC at least). I've been using Robinhood for the past year while trading stocks and I'm kind of surprised that there doesn't appear to be a similar app for crypto that is as clean, intuitive, and comprehensive. I've tried Blockfolio, Delta, Crypto Tracker, and now on Cryptoport. I don't want to have to input everything by hand, but it's nice (tho not necessary) to have the option. And I wish the apps would automatically subtract trading fees to give the correct end balance depending on the exchange. http://ift.tt/2CmWTO3

How does SegWit reduce transaction size, when the signature is simply moved to another part of the transaction? This video explains that the signature is moved out of the input section and moved to the new one called the witness. From what I can tell, the witness signature is still contained in this transaction - how would a simple reordering of information magically create more space? Were one or more machines required to be running 24/7 on the network after the first block was mined? After mining the genesis block, did Satochi have to leave his computer running to mine the subsequente empty blocks? Was he running the whole network on a single node or did he require multiple nodes to test the transaction verifications? What would happen if at some point all nodes were off and no transactions or blocks were being generated? At some point the whole net work were probably a couple of personal computers. So I mined a block, but why would other nodes accept my mined block? When a miner finds a hash and is thus able to confirm a block of transactions, that miner will then broadcast the confirmation (block?) to the other Bitcoin nodes so taht it can be added to the blockchain. My question is, what is the incentive for teh other nodes to accept this mined block, even if it is correct and checks out against older blocks? I ask because if the reward for mining blocks decreases over time, other nodes may selfishly not want to accept this miner's effort and prefer to figure it out on their own for a greater reward now than later. http://ift.tt/2C1z36J

Seed recovery strategy I got locked out of my Ledger Nano S. When setting up the device I was given a 24 words seed passphrase, which I wrote down. The device asked me to verify 3 of the 24 words and my input was valid. It now turned out that I made a mistake when writing the seed passphrase down since the checksum doesn't validate and I can't recover my wallets. Failing to send a testnet transaction manually I use Ken Shirriff's post on how to manually create and send a transaction, and I tried to adjust it to work with testnet. AFAIK after adjusting to the testnet addresses, no further adjustments should be made in the tx creation and signature process. However, my transaction does not work... Tether decouples demand from price? So I don't understand how Tether (USDT) works. I hear two contradicting things about it. First, is that it is pegged to the dollar, plus or minus a few cents here and there. Second, that you can buy or sell freely from some other cryptos. Why Ripple use Blockchain technology in the first place? This is what I understand Ripple's use-case with banks. You and I announce to a trusted third party that $10 million of my money should now be considered yours. This third party isn't a middleman who holds debt, - it simply keeps track of IOUs and regularly announces to all parties who owes who how much. The ACH system in the US (a.k.a. Bitcoin mining fee from Exchange doesn't add up I've bought some Bitcoin from an Exchange and transferred it out, I won't name the exchange but they advertise no trading fees and no withdrawal fees on cryto other than the mining fee. why the file generated by command dumpwallet has the key address pairs with the same hdkeypath?? Practical difference between mainnet and testnet I managed to write a piece of code that generates a bitcoin address and creates a transaction. And now I have come across The Large Bitcoin Collider I have read on Bitcoin Stackexchange and other places people writing how improbably it is to collide with an existing address with a balance. Some even wrote its astronomically improbable. But if you look here you'll see that the LBC in a matter of few months has already found over 15 addresses with balance, of which one contained 0.54 BTC: LBC Trophies Imagine once it starts harnessing more power from users? Clearly this is a big problem. Right now a Bitcoin address with some balance is akin to a cabin in some woods with no door and a small pouch of gold waiting to be discovered. What's so special about six blocks for confirming transactions? I read that when your transaction is part of a block that has five other blocks on top of it, you can feel safe that your transaction is not in danger of being orphaned because someone else would come along and confirm a series of blocks longer than the one of which your transaction belongs.
