How can I claim BTG from Electrum after the Fork?

How can I claim BTG from Electrum after the Fork?

I had Bitcoin in my Electrum wallet prior to the last fork and block no. 491406 so I'm elegible to claim BTG but I'm finding it extremely difficult to follow Electrum's instructions. I've tried sweeping my BTC coins from the Coinomi wallet using my private keys but that's not working either. I wasn't sure which private keys to use as there seem to be many from different addresses so I tried all of them. I have now spent approx. 9 hours trying to figure it out. I can't find help anywhere. Can anyone help here? Should I have done anything in my Electrum wallet to help prepare for the fork - perhaps that's a step I missed?
