Why don't the price of all cryptocurrencies crash?

When I first learnt about bitcoins, it was explained to me like gold. As gold is limited in nature, so is bitcoin. Some of the gold is yet to be mined as so are some bitcoins. And that's how a value of a certain thing it maintained. And if there was only one crypto currency, bitcoin might have succeeded as a decentralised currency. But that's not the case. And if we look specifically at ethereum, it doesn't even have a fixed number of coins. It is infinite. If there were to be no speculating and no VCs making investment in any person claiming to have a product related to cryptocurrency, wouldn't the price of all cryptocurrency crash?
